  • Received his BA degree in Physics, cum laude, from Dartmouth College in 1975.
  • Attended the MS graduate program for Electrical Engineering at Pennsylvania State University. 
  • Graduated in 1977 from the American Graduate School of International Management, aka Thunderbird, having completed an international MBA with emphasis in Finance/Marking. 
  • 1981: received his JD from the Houston School of Law where he was an Associate Editor of the Houston Law Review and Editor-in-Chief of the Houston Journal of International Law.  He is the author of “To Tax or Not to Tax” which was published by the Houston Law Review.
  • 1979: clerked for the law firm of Vinson & Elkins in the patent law section
  • 1981: hired as the lead attorney for Conoco Oil Inc. specializing in domestic and international crude oil purchase and trading agreements, helped to create the crude oil future’s trading division, and worked with the FERC and DOE.
  • 1982: completed Fulbright & Jaworski’s in-house litigation training program. 
  • Industry advisor in 1984 to the Texas legislature on crude oil issues
  • 1985: hired by Alcon Laboratories Inc’s Legal department as the Assistant General Council, specializing in product licensing and Mergers and Acquisitions. During this tenure the company grew to a multi billion dollar annual sales volume.
  • 1994: hired as VP of Business and Development & General Counsel/Secretary for Galderma International Laboratories Inc.
  • 2001: founded SDR Pharmaceuticals, Inc. a dermatology company
  • 2004: joined Paramount Investment Corporation as Chief Operating Officer/Partner. His focus has been in project development, high level investment financing including conduit loans and private equity syndication, as well as municipal, state and federal zoning and agency issues.

Kurt has three wonderful sons, the oldest of which was honorably discharged from the 101st Airborne after serving in Iraq. His wife, Elaine, is the Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Alcon Laboratories, Inc. She has also served as past president of the South Western US Mensa Society and president of the Texas General Counsel Form for three years. She traveling extensively to Europe and speaks 5 languages.

Kurt grew up in Montana, where he played semi-pro fast pitch softball across Canada and Montana and developed a love of skiing. In addition, he played on Dartmouth’s football, baseball, and rifle teams, enjoys martial arts and has a soft spot for animals in need of assistance. He and his wife foster for several no-kill animal groups and maintain a house for the benefit of their strays. When life gets too fast, he hopes on his Harley and remembers that life is about living, it should not just happen to you.
